I recently shared a new cover for The Illegibility Crisis and hinted that there was more taking shape. The print edition is now live on Amazon, in living color. My Amazon author page is up as well.
Getting from a manuscript to a physical book involves a different kind of attention. The cover, the layout, the proofs, and the corrections all become part of how the work reaches a reader. It’s good to be able to share the result and finally provide the link I promised.
The question behind the book remains the same: how do leaders remain responsible for systems they can no longer adequately understand? An organisation can keep producing results while its ability to explain those results deteriorates. Someone still approves the next change, accepts the risk, and answers for what follows. The responsibility survives the loss of understanding.
That is why operational legibility matters. People need enough evidence to examine a decision and enough understanding to recognise when an explanation is inadequate. They also need the authority to act on that recognition. A concern that cannot reach the person making the decision does little to protect anyone affected by it.
The Illegibility Crisis examines that problem in the context of leadership in the AI era. For readers who prefer a physical copy, it is now available here:

Thank you for reading and for being part of the conversation around this work. If you pick up a copy, I’d welcome hearing where it connects with your experience, and where you think the argument needs to go further.
Per ignem, veritas.
